Mijndert van den Berg was born on July 5, 1876, in Gorinchem (The Netherlands). He was a painter of landscapes, river views, cityscapes and still lifes.

He studied at the Hague Academy of Fine Arts and stayed in this city his whole life.

Van den Berg was the Hague School painter, strongly influenced by the Impressionism. He painted mainly Dutch landscapes and river views. Occasionally, the painter ventured a remarkably colourful and daring palette.

He died in The Hague on April 8, in 1967. Today, when his paintings do appear on the art market, it is his landscapes are sought after.
