Van Roy Dolf was born in Brussels in 1858. He was a Belgian Post-Impressionist painter of landscapes, interiors, portraits, figures and nudes. He studied at the Brussels Academy of Fine Arts.
Van Roy was a member of the small and little-known Brussels artist group L’Élan, which was active around 1911 and held several exhibitions in those years.
In 1903, he exhibited in Antwerp in the Salon Triennial and in 1907 in the Exposition Générale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.
He died in his hometown in 1943. Dolf’s realist paintings are exquisite in their detail and colourful palette. These exceptional quality works are prized by discerning collectors and are of the finest quality.
Today, his works can be found in private and public collections, including the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels, Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Liège and in Jakob Smits Museum in Mol, Belgium.
