Pottin Henri Louis Aimé (known as Pottin Henry) was born on August 25, 1820, in Paris.

The painter died in Paris in 1864. He was a French painter of history, genre scenes and portraits. He was also engraver and lithographer.

He was a student of the master teachers, the brothers Johannot and François Edouard Picot (1786 – 1868).
Pottin exhibited in the Salon from 1845 to 1864.

The painter died in Paris in 1864. Today, his works can be found in private and public collections, including in museums in Caen, Lons-le-Saulnier, Montpellier (France).
