Grolleron Paul Louis Narcisse was born in Seignelay on June 11, 1848. He was a painter of military subjects, historical scenes, genre scenes and portraits. He studied with the French master teacher and artist Leon Bonnart and worked closely with him for many years.

Grolleron began to exhibit at The Paris Salon in 1873 and continued to do so there. He exhibits also at other important European venues, throughout his lifetime.

While his genre scenes and portraits were highly regarded, he became known for his military and historical paintings. Today, those works are the most sought after.

Grolleron died on October 28, 1901.
