Kröner Christian Johann was born in Rinteln an der Weser, Germany on February 3, 1838 and died in Düsseldorf, Germany on October 16, 1911. XIX-XX centuries, German painter. Was mainly active in Düsseldorf. Painter of hunting scenes, animals, animated landscapes and landscapes.
He was originally a decorative painter, dedicating himself fully to art from 1861. On the advice of L.-H. Becker, he went to Düsseldorf to paint and studied mainly from nature. He traveled through Germany, the coasts of the North Sea, visited Paris. Kröner worked autodidactically in Munich and Düsseldorf, painting mostly landscapes in the forest of Teutoburg, the Harz mountain range and the Rügen area. He dedicates himself to paint scenes of forest and found a unique language to describe the beauty of nature. His works are defined by a structure rendering, atmospheric moods and a distinctive coloring.
Kröner made also drownings and watercolors. He was fascinated by print-multiple, photography. Painter made woodcuts and etchings depicting animals. His workshop was assiduously attended.
Kröner was awarded a gold medal at Berlin Exposition in 1876, 1879. He was a member of the Berlin Academy and a professor by royal appointment. He exhibited in Paris in 1900 “Exposition Universelle”. He gains a large medal in London in 1879.
Today, his work can be found in many private collections worldwide.
